Live — cello, violin and electronics

About

Lunar Tide is Alexandra Marcu on cello and Lia Sherman on violin. Their music moves like film scenes: modern classical and ambient, drawing on maqam, with plenty of room left for improvisation.

Their debut album, Forever Still, was recorded in Berlin. It revolves around grief and healing.

On stage they play as a duo, a trio or a full band, depending on the room.

Press

Lunar Tide is the cinematic instrumental duo of cellist Alexandra Marcu and violinist Lia Sherman. Built on strings and electronics and shaped by makam, their music blends modern classical, ambient and cinematic textures: pieces that move like film scenes.

Between them, the duo has performed at WOMAD, Roskilde, Pohoda Festival and BBC Studios, and they appear regularly as string arrangers on projects across genres.

Their debut album, Forever Still, was recorded in Berlin with producer Daniel Harlev and arrives on 15 January 2027: eight instrumental pieces about grief and healing. The first single, Just Before Dawn, is out now.
